Our polycarbonate sheets and UHMW polyethylene stock lengths allow you to construct your own array of jigs with the same materials used by tool manufacturers.
Our polycarbonate sheets are perfect for making transparent bases plates, safety shields, templates, jigs, inserts and other accessories for your workshop. Much like wood, these durable 12" x 12" (305 x 305mm) plates can be drilled, tapped, routed or cut with a saw blade. Very high shock resistance. Two thicknesses: 1/4" (6.35mm) and
3/8" (9.6mm).
Our UHMW Polyethylene lengths are made from the same material that you find on most factory-made jigs. The letters stand for ultra-high molecular weight, a type of plastic that is dense, tough, rigid, impervious to moisture and - most importantly - has a very low coefficient of friction. Jig bases made from it slide easily on machine tables. We offer it in a range of sizes that you can use for making fences, jigsaw sub-tables, etc, as well as jig bases.
One of the most useful strip sizes is the 3/4" x 3/8" x 24" (19mm x 9.6mm x 610mm), sized to fit in table slots. The width is cut to close tolerances so that it fits well in a 3/4" slot and completely avoids the annoying galling that you get with many slot runners. It machines like wood. It can be drilled, tapped, routed or cut with a saw blade. It even makes good bearings for low RPM use.
