The shoulder plane (a specialised rabbet plane) is the ultimate tool for trimming a joint to a perfect fit. There is no better plane for trimming the shoulder of a tenon to perfection or for rebating work. Veritas’® shoulder plane is proportioned for versatility. It measures 7" (178mm) long by 0.700" (18mm) wide and weighs about 900g. The ductile cast iron body is accurately machined and ground so that the sole and sides are flat and square.

The unique lever cap with a pivoting knob lets you adjust the plane to fit your hand and preferred holding technique. The concave knob rests in the web of your hand, giving you a secure grip without the need of excessively heavy pressure. The through hole in the body further adds to grip security.

The plane’s adjustable toe lets you narrow the mouth for very fine shaving with minimal tear-out. The low bed angle of 15° combined with the 25° blade bevel results in a cutting edge of 40° for exceptional grain cutting performance. Set screws along the side enable you to accurately position the blade and do not require adjustment when replacing the blade after sharpening. The blade is 1/8" (3.2mm) thick and is made of A2 tool steel hardened to Rc60-62.
