IN-STORE WOODWORKING DEMONSTRATION SCHEDULE
Carbatec holds free in-store woodworking demonstrations presented by local professional woodworkers.

The demonstrations are designed to show you new techniques, ideas and products to help you get the most out of your woodworking while being able to interact with the demonstrators. So whether you are new to woodworking and want to learn the basics or you are an experienced woodworker wanting to expand your skills – there will be a demonstration of interest to you.

Fergal Flynn will take you through the ins and outs of the new Triton Workcentre and the addition of the new Triton powertools available.

9.00am - 12.00pm CARVING FIGURNES
Ian Forster will be doing a series on Simplified Figure Carving, where each carving would be completed over 2 lessons, allowing for interaction with customers. Ian will confine myself to a few tools to make it easier for a person just beginning carving, to achieve a result without the resources.

8:30am - 12:30pm EVERYTHING BANDSAW
Ben Mahoney will guide you through types of bandsaws and setups. He will explain the different blades and what they are used for. Show you how to rip-down material, book-matching and veneers. Ben will also show you how to cut circles for bowl banks. Also for a bit of fun bandsaw castles and animals.

1:30pm - 4:30pm INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
We are celebrating International Women's Day this year with a free demonstration for those women who are interested learning a new hands-on skill or are currently woodworking and would like an afternoon of chatting to like-minded peers and enjoy some cheese & wine!

Carol Russell will be one of our demonstrators on the day and will be teaching us the skills of carving wooden spoons. You will get a chance to make your own spoon and will be able to take advantage of exclusive deals on our carving products!

Doug Collins will continue his carving of his Australian animal sculpture. Showing the materials, tools and techniques needed to complete your own project.

Gary Bidgood, master turner will demonstrate the various Robert Sorby spindle gouges to turn a handle for an un-handled 8mm Continental Spindle Gouge. When he's done on the day he will mount the gouge to the handle and one lucky person will take it home!

Small panel doors can be joined with mortise and tenon techniques. Bruce will have five small cabinets on the go, each which will use a variation of mortise and tenon joinery. He will use: Festool domino, horizontal borer, drill press, diy router jig and hand tools.

Tim Skilton will take you through some of the machinery available to sharpen your woodturning tools. And also offer some tips and tricks involving in sharpening these tools. Products used will feature the Sorby ProEdge system and accessories.

We will build a two-step stepping stool. Five people will have the opportunity to use the Kreg pocket hole jig to build their own take home kitchen step stool.
