IN-STORE WOODWORKING DEMONSTRATION SCHEDULE
Carbatec holds free in-store woodworking demonstrations presented by local professional woodworkers.

The demonstrations are designed to show you new techniques, ideas and products to help you get the most out of your woodworking while being able to interact with the demonstrators. So whether you are new to woodworking and want to learn the basics or you are an experienced woodworker wanting to expand your skills – there will be a demonstration of interest to you.

Saturday 29th April

9:00am - 12:00pm CARVING NATIVE ANIMALS
Doug Collins will continue his work on the white-bellied sea eagle that many of you will be familiar with. He will run through the woodcarving tools and materials needed to complete such a grand project.

8.30am - 12.30pm LIDDED BOX WITH INLAY
Master turner, Gary Bidgood, fresh from Turnfest will turn a lidded box with silver inlay on the lid.

Every courtyard is better with a picnic table and chairs. Bruce Sharp's grand-daughter has a fairy garden in her backyard which will much better suit the gnomes if they have a table to eat at. There will be drawings for a kiddy sized, hobbit style table and chairs. Drawings and construction will be based on the use of a Kreg Jig. For the morning's demonstration, we will make the table.

Mark Thomas will demonstrate the features and benefits of using the new Triton workcentre come and see the new range of Triton products.

Graham Turner will show us the basics of wood turning. Goldfields wood available to be purchased on the day.

9:00am - 12:00pm COME AND TRY LEIGH DOVETAIL JIG
Tony Foord will take you through the cutting of a dovetail on the Leigh dovetail jig. 30min slots throughout the morning. You will need to book for this demonstration and spots are limited. Please call the store (08 8362 5280) to book your spot. Closed in shoes and no loose clothing is required.

8.30am - 12.30pm BASKET WEAVING ILLUSION ARTIST
Ben Guha is a student of Harvey Mayer of Atlanta, USA, who is a well-known Basket Weaving Illusion artist. North American Indian's have been making this art of Basket Weaving for many many years. Ben will be doing this art on a lathe turned timber platter and colouring the design with various colour pens. Ben is the only artist who does this type of art work in Brisbane or in Queensland. Please come and see this interesting art demo at our store.

Mark Thomas will demonstrate shaping and glueing bracing to the back and top in guitar making. He will help you out with what tools to use including hand planes, sanding, carving chisels, glues and clamping techniques.
