Ironbark Tools are individually handcrafted and feature Australian "Arid Zone" hardwoods in Brisbane, Australia.

Quality squares are synonymous with quality woodworking. These squares are made from a solid 19mm x 16mm block of milled and machined brass, accented by a through 'keyhole' design with a solid timber insert. The species used in this case is 'Yarran' - Acacia homalophylla. This is an Australian 'arid zone' species, commonly called 'desert or outback' hardwoods, that weighs around 1275kg/m3. A hard-wearing, heavy and dense species, it is perfectly suited to the task, and its commonly dark brown tones contrast beautifully against the brass and steel.

Critical to the design, the 19mm wide and 3mm thick milled 304-grade stainless steel blade/beam is adjustable - meaning that while it is set square on completion, in time, the square can be recalibrated and adjusted for perfect square throughout a lifetime of use. A laser-engraved Ironbark logo completes the beam.

The feel and weight of these tools make them a pleasure to use and, ultimately, an investment in the quality of your woodwork. Every workshop needs a square, and every woodworker will appreciate a quality, uniquely Australian handcrafted tool.

The 90˚ Squares are available separately in four sizes: 3" (76mm), 5" (127mm), 7" (178mm) and 10" (254mm), referring to the blade/beam length.

The stainless steel blade requires little maintenance, while brass tarnishes and develops a natural patina. This does not impact the function of the tool and some prefer the natural aged look, but it can be protected, maintained or restored with a little #0000 steel wool and furniture wax if you prefer a polished brass finish.

About the maker - Passion for the woodworking industry, an eye for detail, and an appreciation of quality tools led Devon down a path of fine woodwork and working with many established names and businesses in the field. The culmination of this path eventually led to a desire to handcraft the tools required, and Ironbark Tools was established. Now displaying a range of tools at events throughout Australia and the USA, Devon is continually refining his craft and developing novel features in his tools, utilising a range of Australian and, occasionally, exotic timbers.

NB*: This offering is only for the 5" (127mm) square. Other sizes are available separately.
