The Robert Sorby 7/8" Steb Drive has a spring centre point, allowing for accurate and specific positioning, and repositioning onto the Centre. Then as the tailstock is wound in, the teeth around the circumference of the Centre bite into the timber, providing the grip required to turn the material. These lower profile teeth also give an even spread of pressure reducing the chance of the timber splitting.
