Product Details

The Tormek Blackstone Silicon Wheel is designed for shaping and sharpening high-speed steel (HSS), exotic alloyed steels, and for touching up tungsten carbide tools. While its performance on ordinary carbon steel is limited, it excels at removing hard steel efficiently even at the low speeds Tormek machines are known for. The wheel can be graded from 220 grit to 1000 grit, allowing both coarse shaping and fine sharpening. Its sharp, small grains make it ideal for tools with larger bevel surfaces, such as planer blades and woodturning skews, and it offers exceptional wear resistance for long-lasting performance. Suitable for T-8, T-7, and earlier models with a 250 mm diameter.

Note: Shaping involves removing material to achieve a profile, while sharpening is refining the edge.
