Laguna 16" 3HP Sheartec II Thicknesser

The Laguna 16" Thicknesser from the 2021 Model Series combines modern European-inspired design with powerful performance, making it a premium planing solution for workshops ranging from home users to schools and small businesses.

The redesigned cabinet houses the motor internally for improved safety and dust control, while a top-view cutterhead window and hinged access lid make blade inspection and rotation simple. The machine includes full-width material return rollers, a 4" (100mm) dust port, and a ground cast iron bed for stable, accurate machining.

At the heart of the machine is the Sheartec II helical spiral cutterhead, fitted with 108 four-sided tungsten carbide inserts arranged across six rows. This cutterhead design delivers quiet operation and a superior finish, particularly on difficult grain patterns such as figured, interlocked, or irregular timber. Ten spare inserts are included.

Height adjustment is controlled by a side-mounted recessed handwheel with a built-in Wixey digital readout for precise thickness settings. The thicknesser also features two selectable feed speeds for flexibility across different materials and finishing requirements.

With a maximum cutting capacity of 406mm wide by 203mm thick, this thicknesser is built to handle demanding planing tasks with reliability and accuracy.
