Innovation has been key to the progress of the Laguna brand and it is fully embraced here in the REVO 12/16 Midi Lathe. To overcome the issues of a traditional DC motor (Low torque at low speed and inability to achieve very low speeds) the controller uses the revolutionary Pulse Width Modulation system which feeds a succession of voltage pulses to the motor, monitoring the speed and automatically making adjustments to keep the speed constant. The result is a fantastic level of torque even at the incredibly low speed of 50rpm.
The controls are mounted in an anodized aluminium plate, the ergonomic design of which is well positioned with a clear blue light digital speed read out and easy access to all controls. The variable speed is smoothly controlled with a tactile rubber augmented knurled aluminium dial - it is a joy to use. This is an over-size midi lathe! The bulk of the machine, along with the quality Taiwanese manufacture provide a flawless, vibration free turning experience. The 1HP PWM motor is larger than others and provides all the power required for the jobs you might tackle on this lathe. With a 310mm (12.5") Swing over the bed and 390mm (15.5") between centres, this midi-lathe will cover a large variety of projects, particularly the popular hobby craft offering, such as pens, pepper mills, bowls and more.Should you wish to expand on the capacity of this lathe, a full suite of accessories are available. A bed extension will increase your "between centre" capacity from 390mm to 640mm (24") should you need to turn long spindles. Need your machine to be free-standing? We've never seen a stand as custom designed and robust as this! The height is adjustable from 975mm to 1125mm (39" to 45") at spindle centre and includes multi-tool shelving on-board. Perhaps you need to move it? The Deluxe Wheel System allows you to easily walk your machine around your shop, from storage against the wall, to where you do your turning and back again! Or maybe you primarily work on larger bowls and platters? An outboard turning attachment (drop down cast iron bed), complete with it's own banjo is available to increase your bowl capacity to 405mm (16"). There is even a flexible arm light you can mount via an additional mounting plate. This is a serious bit of gear.
Supplied with 2MT four prong drive centre, 2MT revolving tail centre, 6" Wide Tool rest with 1" shank and a 75mm (3") diameter faceplate.*New Australian Specification Model (with CE Rated Safety) includes an EMI Filter and tool locking belt door. Great for School and Business compliance (always check with your relevant state bodies as to any localised state machinery requirements).

**NB: External spindle thread (under handwheel) for outboard turning (with attachment) is 1" x 8TPI. We recommend the Nova Reversible 1 x 8TPI IXNS insert to suit. Do not operate without either handwheel OR insert, to prevent the shaft dislodging.
