Mandrels have a tendency to bend when the tailstock is overtightened, and is quite difficult to get centred to the tailstock live centre. This mandrel has a hollow live centre rather than the traditional point, so the mandrel thread has somewhere to seat into, with limited pressure then being applied that used to be the cause of those bent mandrels.
Featuring a Morse Taper 2, it will fit most currently available lathes. Great for beginners, students and experienced turners alike.
