Narex PREMIUM Hollowed Profile Cabinet Scraper: Smooth Curves, Coves and Shaped Work Without Torn Grain
Curved work is hard to finish well. Sandpaper rounds over crisp details and flattens the profile you've shaped, and a straight-edged scraper only touches a hollow at one or two points. The Narex PREMIUM Hollowed Profile Cabinet Scraper has a convex curved edge that fits into hollows, coves and inside curves. It takes fine shavings that smooth shaped surfaces cleanly and keep your lines sharp.
Add this curved scraper to your bench and finish shaped work faster, with less sanding.
Key Features
- Convex curved edge for shaped work: The rounded edge fits into hollows, coves and inside curves. You can smooth shaped surfaces evenly instead of catching them at a single point.
- Keeps profiles crisp: The scraper shaves the surface rather than abrading it. Your mouldings, fillets and carved details keep their sharp lines and true shape.
- Focused, controlled cut: Only part of the curved edge touches the timber at any time. This puts the cutting pressure where you want it, so you can work small areas and blend tricky spots precisely.
- No tracks on flat surfaces: The curve feathers out at each side of the cut, so it won't leave the hard edge lines a straight scraper can. This makes it handy for spot repairs and cleaning up tear-out on panels.
- Hardened carbon steel blade: Hardened carbon steel takes and holds a crisp burr. Your scraper keeps cutting fine shavings for longer between sharpenings and stands up to years of workshop use.
- Polished surface: The polished faces give you a smooth, true starting point when you prepare the edge. A clean face helps you form an even burr, and an even burr gives a cleaner cut.
- Smooths without tearing the grain: The burr shaves the fibres rather than lifting them. It handles figured, curly and interlocked timbers that tend to tear out under edge tools.
- Removes plane marks and old finishes: Clean up tool marks and minor tear-out, or strip old varnish and coatings from curved parts without clogging sandpaper.
- 0.7mm thickness: The plate flexes enough under your thumbs to adjust the curve of the cut. It's still stiff enough for heavier jobs such as stripping finishes.
- Compact 135 x 50mm size: The smaller plate sits comfortably in your hands and gets into tight spaces on chairs, frames and carvings.
- Made by Narex: Narex has decades of experience making quality woodworking hand tools, and this scraper is built to last.

A quick tip: prepare the curved edge just as you would a straight one. File and hone it square, following the curve with smooth, rolling strokes so the profile stays even. Lay the scraper flat and rub each face with a burnisher. Then hold the burnisher at about 5 to 10 degrees to the edge and draw it around the curve two or three times to turn the hook. To scrape, hold the plate in both hands, tilt it away from you and push along the hollow, rocking it slightly so the right part of the curve meets the timber. Choose the section of the edge that best matches the curve you're working on. When you see fine shavings, you've got it right. Dust instead of shavings means it's time to turn the burr again.
